In a candid update sparking buzz, Hyun-sook Kim revealed her honest thoughts on remarrying as a single mom nearing 50 — and admitted she hasn’t dated once in the seven years since her divorce.
On the 29th, Kim uploaded a summer vacation vlog to her YouTube channel, showing a family trip to a hanok-style cafe and a mountain stream. In the video, she enjoyed a relaxed getaway by the water with her son and mother.
Kim talked about life after being reunited with her son, who recently returned from two years of studying abroad. "I love being with my kid and I’m so happy, but I’m exhausted," she said. "It feels like I’m constantly cooking and doing the dishes on repeat."
She then drew attention by sharing that her son has been urging her to remarry. "My kid keeps telling me, 'Get remarried,'" Kim said, adding, "I think what he really wants is someone who’ll play with him a lot. He’s big, but he’s still a kid."
When asked by the production team if she’s seriously considering remarriage, Kim joked, "If it’s someone with a short lifespan and a lot of money," earning laughs — before quickly revealing her true feelings. She confessed she hasn’t dated at all in the seven years since her divorce.
"I’m about to turn 50, and I’m alone. People ask, 'You really didn’t date even once?'" she shared. "There was a time when my child went abroad to study, but back then I just didn’t want to date at all." She continued, "Even now, it’s not that I’m set on remarrying. I just wonder if, as I get older, I’ll end up never meeting anyone as a woman and that’ll be it. In the blink of an eye, I’ll be 60 or 70. Rather than a 'man,' I’d like to have a good friend."
Kim married a non-celebrity in 2014 and welcomed a son, but announced her divorce in 2020.
