Actor Ji Ye-eun revealed a real-life dating episode with her boyfriend, choreographer Bata — and it sparked a viral debate about their 'secret date' fight.
On the June 30 broadcast of JTBC variety show Love War, Ji Ye-eun appeared as a special diplomat guest. From her entrance, she joked, "I heard it was a dating show, but I didn't know it was a war," drawing laughs.
As Ji Ye-eun is publicly dating dancer Bata, the cast couldn't resist teasing her. When Lee Hyori said, "I hope you find a good match," Seo Jang-hoon and Kim Hee-chul quickly chimed in, "She already has." Smiling shyly, Ji admitted, "I do," indirectly mentioning Bata. Kim Hee-chul then quipped, "I hope the two of you never have a reason to come on this show," sending the studio into laughter.
Ji also took part in a "conflict style with your partner" test prepared by the program. Her result matched Lee Hyori's: the "Seo Jang-hoon type" — a lecturing style that says things that are too on-the-nose and can provoke the other person. Seeing the result, Ji reacted with surprise, saying, "Am I like that?" But when Lee Hyori asked, "Do you keep talking until the other person admits their mistake?" Ji nodded, acknowledging her own dating style.
"I'm pretty direct," Ji confessed. "I keep pressing until the other person admits they were wrong and realizes it." Asked if she and Bata had ever fought, she admitted, "Our voices did get a little raised once."
Their clash came from different temperaments. "He worries a lot, and I'm the type who doesn't," she explained. Recalling their pre-public days of secret dating, she added, "I would just wear a cap, but Bata said, 'What if we get caught dating? Wear a mask.'" Ji continued, "I said I was fine, so why make a fuss — and my voice went up a bit," revealing the small spat. Lee Hyori joked, "If you two have a big fight later, come over to my side. You're welcome here," adding more laughs.
Meanwhile, Ji Ye-eun and Bata were both born in 1994. The two reportedly went from church friends to lovers.
