Production company Playlist has issued a strong warning about scammers impersonating casting staff for its hit series.
On the 2nd, Playlist stated on its official social media, "Recently, we have repeatedly confirmed cases of people approaching others while posing as Weak Hero Class 3 casting staff," adding, "We are not conducting any street casting of any kind."
The company further stressed, "If you were approached in this manner, it is illegal and entirely unrelated to us, so do not engage under any circumstances," and requested, "If you have suffered direct harm or discover similar cases, report them immediately through Playlist’s official channels."
The Weak Hero series is a gritty coming-of-age action drama following top 1% model student Yeon Si-eun (Park Ji-hoon) as he stands up to relentless violence with friends Ahn Su-ho (Choi Hyun-wook) and Oh Beom-seok (Hong Kyung). The first season, Weak Hero Class 1, rode breakout performances by rising stars Park Ji-hoon, Choi Hyun-wook, and Hong Kyung to an overwhelming 45.5% OTT platform share at launch, sparking a full-on phenomenon. The follow-up, Weak Hero Class 2, moved from Wavve to Netflix, winning explosive love from viewers not only in Korea but worldwide.
With back-to-back mega hits, all eyes in the industry and among fans are fixed on whether Season 3 will move forward. The impersonation scam is widely seen as a side effect of those sky-high expectations.
Meanwhile, regarding Season 3, Netflix commented that "nothing has been decided yet," maintaining a cautious stance.
