Another buzzy, well-made BL drama is about to drop — and the casting news is already stirring major buzz and backlash.

OTT platform Wavve has locked the main and supporting lineup for its new June BL series Geomsasilui Je-an and kicked off full-scale production.

On the 4th, production company Oak Company unveiled the principal cast for Geomsasilui Je-an. Based on Hebok’s hit web novel of the same name, the story thrillingly follows a cold-blooded prosecutor and a truth-chasing investigator as they dig into a string of connected crimes.

Notably, Geomsasilui Je-an blends the taut suspense of a classic crime procedural with BL romance — a fresh, attention-grabbing twist. Viewers can expect an intense chase for the truth and a tightly drawn evolution of the two leads’ relationship. The original work earned rave reviews among fans for its solid plotting, high immersion, and crackling chemistry, fueling anticipation for the live-action take.

Actor Kim Yoon-sik has been cast as lead prosecutor Joo Tae-seon. He’s set to deliver a layered performance, pairing an icy exterior — the kind that “won’t bleed a drop even if pricked” — with a deeply human core. Park Si-woo, formerly of boy group BLANK2Y, plays investigator Lee Chae-ha, who relentlessly pursues the truth. Teaming up with Kim Yoon-sik, Park will unravel key clues and showcase flawless synergy.

The scene-stealing supporting lineup also turns heads. Veteran actor Kim Jung-tae joins as Tak Sung-ung to anchor the drama, while Cho Min-gyu brings energy as Song Haneul. Seo Han-gyeol has been cast as Oh Ja-hyun, further elevating the show’s completeness.

Fans are already split, reacting with sharply divided takes like: "It’s exhausting watching people act with so-so skills," "I wish they’d cancel production," "I’m going back to reread the original," and "The live-action sounds like it’ll be fun."

Meanwhile, Wavve — which is prepping a diverse slate of BL series including the much-anticipated Geomsasilui Je-an — plans to announce a detailed release schedule soon.
