Actor Jeong Eun-chae is turning heads as she transforms into veteran detective Joo Hye-ra.
On the 21st, the team behind SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama Flex X Cop 2 (hereafter 'Flex X Cop 2') unveiled stills of Jeong Eun-chae as Joo Hye-ra.
In the drama, Joo Hye-ra, a former member of the National Police Agency's counterterrorism unit, is portrayed as a seasoned detective with both experience and grit, as well as the empathy to truly listen to her team.
Jeong Eun-chae said, "With styling that balances weight and mobility, I'm teasing a visual transformation fit for a detective, and with a breezy rhythm I'll help anchor a new pillar of season 2." She added, "It will be exciting to watch two people with opposite personalities gradually grow into the ultimate partners."
Regarding her partner Ahn Bo-hyun, she shared, "On set, he was always Jin Yi-soo himself," adding, "His passionate yet flexible approach was a great spark." She also noted that in real life he's witty and endearingly charming, raising expectations for their chemistry.
Taking on the comic-action genre for the first time, Jeong confessed, "Unity and trust among the actors mattered most," and said she worked to blend naturally into the team amid the upbeat atmosphere on set.
On why she chose this project, she said, "I was drawn to the snappy storytelling and cathartic tone." She added that she was curious how Joo Hye-ra would shake up the existing story and that she wanted to play a character who is both human and self-driven.
Meanwhile, 'Flex X Cop 2', which follows chaebol detective Jin Yi-soo and Major Crimes Team 1's new leader Joo Hye-ra as they solve cases together, premieres August 7. It will also stream on Disney+.
