Figure skating star and former child actor Cha Jun-hwan is reportedly heading from the ice to the small screen, with a potential sitcom debut on tvN that already has fans buzzing.
On the 7th, his agency Fantagio stated, "Cha Jun-hwan is positively reviewing an appearance in tvN's new sitcom Gungjeon Land."
According to reports, Gungjeon Land is a youth sitcom that follows the chaotic, comedic daily lives of part-time workers at an amusement park. Cha has reportedly been offered the role of Seong Dae-han.
As a child actor, Cha appeared in the dramas Miracle and The Return of Iljimae, among others. After transitioning to figure skating, he rose to become the face of Korean men's figure skating, making a mark at numerous international competitions.
In particular, after signing an exclusive contract with the comprehensive entertainment company Fantagio this April, he signaled a strong desire to resume acting—so news of this potential sitcom casting is drawing intense public and fan attention.
Meanwhile, before his small-screen return, Cha is also taking on a new challenge on the ice. He will play protagonist Sung Jin-woo in the ice show adaptation of the hit webtoon Solo Leveling on ICE, showcasing dynamic group numbers and his signature, high-impact figure skating performances.
