Actors Heo Nam-jun and Im Ji-yeon are heating up living rooms with bold confidence that never wavers—even in front of a villain.

Episode 9 of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Brave New World, which aired on the 5th, delivered a thrilling three-way face-off at the BIOJ brand event between Shin Se-ri (Im Ji-yeon), Cha Segye (Heo Nam-jun), and Mo Tae-hee (Chae Seo-an), who tries to sabotage their relationship.

That day, Cha Segye stayed icy and resolute, drawing a hard line with Mo Tae-hee, who ignored his warnings, saying, "Let’s communicate through the secretary’s office until the engagement is officially called off." But with his girlfriend Shin Se-ri—who tried to de-escalate the situation—he instantly shifted into a tender, devoted boyfriend, admitting, "I wasn’t thinking straight. I’ll keep that in mind."

Shin Se-ri more than held her own. Treating the snide Mo Tae-hee like a misbehaving child, she coolly replied, "I’ll grant your wish—so take a lap around the venue," giving viewers a vicarious thrill.

Right after the broadcast, online communities and social media lit up with reactions like, "They’re villains, but somehow I’m rooting for this couple," "It’s so satisfying to see villain Mo Tae-hee get a taste of her own medicine," "Him turning into a softie only for his woman is swoon-worthy," and "Where else do you find such a cool, confident female lead?"

According to ratings agency Nielsen Korea, Episode 10, which aired on the 6th, hit a peak of 11.3%, with 10.2% in the Seoul metro area and 9.9% nationwide. In Episode 10, just after Shin Se-ri and Cha Segye sealed their 'mutual captivity' promise and reached the peak of their romance, a shocking twist cranked up the tension: an unidentified truck charged straight at Shin Se-ri and Cha Dal-su (Yoon Joo-sang) as they crossed paths by chance at a gukbap (rice soup) diner. The sight of the two bloodied closed out the episode with a powerful cliffhanger, sending curiosity for what comes next to an all-time high.

Meanwhile, Brave New World, which blends sweet romance with chilling danger, airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS and is also available on Netflix.
