MAMAMOO’s Hwasa and Wheein stunned fans by revealing a past drunken scuffle that even turned physical — and they can laugh about it now.
On June 8, on the YouTube channel Zzanbro Shin Dong-yeob, members Solar, Wheein, Moonbyul, and Hwasa appeared as a complete lineup to celebrate their 12th debut anniversary and share behind-the-scenes stories from their dorm days.
The members admitted they had clashed multiple times over the years while promoting as a team. Moonbyul said, "We really fought hard. It got to the point where our dorm room was a mess." The others agreed: "We fought as much as we needed to — and then worked it out well."
Wheein drew attention with an unforgettable story involving Hwasa. She confessed, "Hwasa and I once got into a fistfight in Japan," and Hwasa added, "We were both drunk at the time," recalling the scene. Wheein said, "It started with us hugging and goofing around, but our emotions suddenly spiked over something tiny," adding, "We ended up throwing punches and even kicking each other." Hwasa chimed in, "Thinking back now, I don’t even remember what we were fighting about."
Wheein explained, "Even when I drink, I usually remember things — but Hwasa is the type to black out. I remember the situation clearly, but she remembered it differently. After that fight, things were awkward for over a week."
The frosty mood didn’t go unnoticed by the other members. Solar testified, "We had a schedule the next day, but the two of them wouldn’t even make eye contact. They kept passing messages through me instead of talking directly. I only found out later that they had a huge fight."
Hwasa and Wheein, who have been friends since seventh grade, admitted that while they’ve had their share of conflicts after spending so many years together, those moments ultimately made their bond stronger.
