Singer Seo In-young, formerly of the group Jewelry, candidly shared her feelings ahead of remarriage and went public with the love story of her soon-to-be husband.
On the 9th, Seo In-young revealed in a video posted to her YouTube channel, "I met my current boyfriend during a really tough time after my divorce." She continued, "Back then, I was deeply depressed and drinking every day. I got a blind-date offer, but I honestly didn’t want to go. I didn’t think I was in a normal state, and I kept thinking I wasn’t enough as a person," she confessed.
Remarriage wasn’t something she could accept easily from the start. Seo said, "I had a hunch I could end up getting married, but I shut it down myself," adding, "I told myself, 'You can’t do this again.'" She continued, "My family was deeply hurt too, so they told me not to get married. I also decided I was someone who couldn’t get married." But as time passed, her heart changed. Seo In-young admitted, "As my feelings grew, I found my footing," and "If it weren’t for this person, I wouldn’t have even considered marriage."
Her fiancé is reportedly Choi Ji-hoon, CEO of the content creative company NP. He is six years older than Seo. She clarified, "It’s his first marriage." Seo added, "People say he’s a businessman or entrepreneur, but in reality, he’s a hardworking corporate CEO," and said, "There was a time I thought I liked people with a lot of money, but now I like people who live earnestly. I fell in love with that."
She also expressed affection for his personality. "He’s upright and sincere," Seo said. "I’ve never met a man with this kind of temperament in my life." She added, "At first, I even felt like being with someone like him was almost like committing a wrong. I tried to avoid him because I was afraid I’d hurt him."
The couple’s first-meeting story was also revealed. Seo recalled, "The day before our blind date, I suddenly called him to join a gathering with my friends. He walked in, smiling and confident, and he didn’t avoid my gaze. That was so attractive." When asked about their first kiss, she laughed and answered frankly, "On the first day." She joked, "You can do that even if you’re not dating yet, right? My dad is going to freak out when this airs."
Seo also addressed the recent exposure of her fiancé’s photos. "The photos didn’t do him justice. He looks way better in person," she said. "That made me a bit upset." Regarding his personal details being reported, she added, "He says he’s fine. He told me not to stress about it."
This time, the wedding will be prepared quietly, unlike before. "We’re planning a small wedding at a church," Seo said. "For my first wedding, I went overboard and spent around 100 million KRW (about $73,000) just on floral decorations. This time, there won’t be any sponsorships or over-the-top decor." She added, "I’ve learned the hard way that those things aren’t necessary."
She also talked about plans for the wedding singer and MC. Naming Kim Tae-woo as a possible wedding singer, Seo joked, "When he was serving in the military, I once traveled all the way to Jeongseon in Gangwon Province for him. He owes me a bit." As for the MC, she hopes Lee Ji-hye can take the role. Seo added, "The Jewelry members worry too much, so I think they’ll cry. Ji-hye unnie would handle it crisply and well."
Seo opened up about the hurtful comments aimed at her remarriage. When producers pointed out a comment saying, "Let’s see if it lasts a few months," she said, "How can I say anything about a remarriage that hasn’t even started yet?" She continued, "Even in my first marriage, I truly wanted to live well. Marriage was a lifelong dream for me. This time, I’m really going to try to make it work. Please don’t misunderstand and just watch over us."
Seo In-young married a non-celebrity businessman in 2023 but divorced by mutual agreement after about a year. Having worked through the heartbreak, she is now preparing for a new start in life through remarriage.
