Actress Lim Ji-yeon transforms into a rock-solid “guardian angel” for the imperiled Heo Nam-jun, delivering another jolt of dopamine to living-room viewers as the series charges toward its finale.

On the 19th, SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama My Royal Nemesis unveiled stills loaded with calm-before-the-storm tension and shocking twists, with only two episodes left until the grand finale.

The new photos capture the crackling standoff at home when Cha Segye (played by Heo Nam-jun)’s aunts Cha Juran (Jung Young-joo) and Cha Jumi (Baek Eun-hye) pay a surprise visit. Just as things are about to explode, Shin Seori (Lim Ji-yeon) strides in and flips the mood in an instant.

In particular, Shin Seori, gripping a palm frond, subdues the aunts in a flash with the deadly presence of someone who once ruled the royal women’s court of Joseon. Having already witnessed Seori’s scorching “mala” side, Cha Segye is jolted by the déjà vu yet moved by the singular aura of the “guardian angel” now protecting him.

As soon as the stills dropped, netizens erupted: “Isn’t this practically a pre-wedding family meeting?”, “A one-of-a-kind female lead never seen in K-dramas,” “Certified character goldmine,” and “My dopamine.”

The syndrome-level buzz around My Royal Nemesis centers on Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun’s pitch-perfect, made-for-the-role performances. Together, they deliver explosive chemistry as a “Joseon-era ultimate femme fatale” and a “modern-day villainous chaebol.”

Viral standout moments like the “flower thrashing” scene, the “electrocution” scene, and the “wrist kiss” scene seamlessly bounce between comedy and romance, leaving viewers completely hooked.

Meanwhile, My Royal Nemesis will air its final episode on the 20th, after which the series will be available to rewatch on Netflix.
