Girl group RESCENE is quickly cementing their status as “local ambassador idols,” locking in special ties with each member’s hometown one after another.
On July 2, Goyang City appointed RESCENE as its official city ambassadors. The group will promote Goyang’s culture, tourism assets, and city brand at home and abroad. The appointment is especially meaningful thanks to member May, who hails from Goyang.
RESCENE said, “We’re honored to be appointed as ambassadors for Goyang City, which is member May’s hometown,” adding, “We’ll actively work to showcase Goyang’s many charms, culture, and tourism resources to audiences worldwide.”
With this, RESCENE now adds Goyang to their growing list of posts after serving as tourism ambassadors for Geoje, Suwon, and Gyeongju. They’re uniquely sweeping up ambassadorships tied to the Korean members’ hometowns, an unusual and buzzworthy streak.
Their first hometown connection began with Woni, who is from Geoje. Through her personal YouTube channel, Woni naturally highlighted the vibe of her hometown and drew public attention. In particular, the “Geoje Yaho!” catchphrase born in content with Japanese member Minami spread across short-form platforms, catapulting RESCENE’s name.
After that, Liv—who is from Suwon—was appointed as Suwon’s ambassador, and Jena, leveraging her Gyeongsang dialect and upbeat personality, was selected as Gyeongju’s tourism ambassador. With May’s hometown of Goyang now in the mix, RESCENE has successfully turned each member’s regional color into a competitive edge for the team.
Riding the momentum of these back-to-back ambassadorships, RESCENE will return on the 8th with the remake single ‘Pretty Girl.’
