Actor Morgan Hu apologized after he accidentally hit “like” on a video about North Korea’s so-called “pleasure squad,” saying it was a mistake.
On the 3rd, Morgan Hu posted a long statement on his Instagram, beginning with, “I sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people because of my social media activity.”
“Regarding the Instagram post in question, the ‘like’ on a comment happened when I came across the post by chance and was checking the comments. I tapped it by mistake — a purely mechanical error,” he wrote. “Because of work and personal schedules, I realized this belatedly. As soon as I noticed, I removed the like and cleaned up the comment section. Regardless of the reason, I deeply reflect on my careless social media management that caused a major misunderstanding and left many people uncomfortable and disappointed.”
He added, “I want to make it clear that the malicious interpretations or rumors currently spreading online are completely unrelated to my values or beliefs — it was simply an accidental touch. Although it was unintentional, I bow my head once again to those hurt by my carelessness. I will act with greater caution and responsibility going forward. I’m sorry.”
Earlier, Morgan Hu had hit “like” on a provocative comment reading “Jealous of North Korea’s elite” under a video titled “When You Wear a North Korean ‘Pleasure Squad’ Mask, Do They Make You Strip First?” posted by creator and North Korean defector Kim Seo-ah on her social media. The act spread widely on X (formerly Twitter), sparking controversy.
Meanwhile, Morgan Hu has appeared in works such as Study Group and Shut Up, You're the Villain of My Work.
