DAY6 drummer Dowoon publicly addressed his feelings for the first time in front of fans following the recent wave of dating and marriage rumors.
From July 3 to 5, DAY6 held their 10th-anniversary tour encore concert, 'The Decade,' at Seoul’s Olympic Park KSPO DOME, wrapping up their milestone tour amid intense interest from their fandom, My Day.
On opening night, Dowoon bowed to the crowd. He said, "I promised I would only show you my best as a public figure, but I feel sorry because it seems I’ve failed to keep that promise." He continued, "But my feelings haven’t changed once in 10 years," adding, "I love you all so much." He also shared, "The reason I exist is to be of help and strength to each and every one of you, in whatever form that may be."
Dowoon also reaffirmed his commitment to the band. "I’m going to do DAY6 for life. Please keep watching," he said. "I’ll keep my promises. I’ll do my best not to cause trouble for anyone around me. Please continue to watch over us. I love you."
His remarks drew attention as his first public comments since online rumors linked him to YouTuber Yu Ji-yu, including speculation about marriage. However, at the concert, Dowoon did not address specifics regarding his relationship with Yu Ji-yu, the marriage rumors, or alleged fan event favoritism.
Back in May, Dowoon was swept up in dating rumors with Yu Ji-yu. She is known as the sister of ulzzang-turned-YouTuber Yoo Hye-joo and currently runs her own YouTube channel. Online, claims spread that the two wore matching items and that Yu Ji-yu’s pet dog was spotted in Dowoon’s car, fueling attention. The chatter escalated further with talk of wedding planner consultations, turning dating rumors into marriage rumors.
These claims were largely circumstantial and speculative, and there has been no official confirmation of either a relationship or marriage plans. At the time, JYP Entertainment stated it had "no comment" regarding the dating rumors.
