The project group I.O.I just pulled off a shocking feat: a rare Triple Crown across music shows with their latest comeback—despite having already wrapped promotions.
On the 4th, Jung Chae-yeon posted on her Instagram, "I went to cheer on Yoojung and ended up receiving the No. 1 trophy myself. I was so happy. Love you all. Thank you for giving us another memory," along with several photos.
The photos captured members celebrating on the MBC 'Show! Music Core' stage that aired the same day. I.O.I clinched first place with the title track 'Suddenly' (Korean: 'Gapjagi') from their third mini album 'I.O.I : LOOP'.
Accepting the trophy on the group’s behalf, Choi Yoo-jung said, "Thank you for letting us reach No. 1 with an album we released after ten years. If you keep missing us, we might just show up 'suddenly' again one day."
For the encore, all members except Yoo Yeon-jung—who could not attend due to a schedule—took the stage. The members were reportedly on site to support Choi Yoo-jung’s solo comeback.
Formed through the Mnet survival audition program 'Produce 101' in 2016, I.O.I won massive love with hits like 'Very Very Very' and 'Downpour'.
