In a move making waves across K-Pop and beyond, BTS has been named an "Honorary Guest" of La Plata, Argentina — the city’s highest ceremonial distinction.
According to BIGHIT MUSIC on July 4, the La Plata City Council held a regular session on July 2 (local time) and unanimously approved a motion to designate BTS as an "Honorary Guest" of the city.
Under La Plata’s municipal ordinance, the "Honorary Guest" title is the top official courtesy awarded to distinguished visitors or globally influential figures in culture and the arts.
The council cited BTS’s sweeping cultural influence, their efforts to advance youth rights worldwide, and active participation in international cultural initiatives as key reasons. Local outlet Infocielo highlighted the rarity of a unanimous vote, underscoring the group’s formidable impact.
Meanwhile, BTS dropped their fifth studio album 'ARIRANG' in March and are currently on a massive world tour. The group is set to become the first Korean act to perform at Estadio Único de La Plata in Buenos Aires for three dates — October 21 and 23–24.
