Actor Yoon Kyung-ho cracked during his 13-hour vow of silence—a ratings pledge tied to SBS drama Agent Kim Reactivated—and finally spoke, sending listeners into laughter.
On the July 13 broadcast of SBS PowerFM’s 2 O'Clock Escape Cultwo Show, Yoon Kyung-ho appeared alongside Joo Sang-wook and Son Na-eun. Having started his silent challenge at 7 a.m. that morning, Yoon showed up in a T-shirt that read “I’m on a vow of silence,” greeting everyone by writing messages on a whiteboard.
The pledge began at the Agent Kim Reactivated press conference. To celebrate So Ji-sub’s first SBS return in 13 years, Yoon promised that if ratings topped 13%, he would not speak for 13 hours. But Agent Kim Reactivated smashed the mark by episode 2 with 15.7% (Nielsen Korea), then hit a series high of 22.3% by episode 6.
However, Son Na-eun revealed he had already spoken once backstage, and about seven hours into the live show, Yoon finally broke his silence on air. He then poured out, non-stop, why he agreed to appear, his connections with the director and writer, and his gratitude toward the project.
After that, his silence shattered two more times—including the quip “I’m not a Marine”—and a final remark at the end of the program, for a total of three breaks. Under the rule that each time he spoke added five minutes to the challenge, his end time was extended by 15 minutes.
Yoon joked, “I’m dying to talk,” adding, “Once is more than enough for a pledge like this. I hope the next one goes to big bro Joo Sang-wook,” making everyone burst into laughter.
