Actor Jang Yong-won — who went viral for his standout gay role — is getting married.
On April 9, Jang Yong-won’s agency PLFIL told multiple outlets, "Jang Yong-won will hold a wedding with his non-celebrity partner in Seoul on June 27." The couple has reportedly been together for over three years.
Jang Yong-won debuted in 2019 with the tvN drama Pegasus Market and has since built his filmography with the films Neukdaedeul and Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. Most recently, he drew notice as senior designer Jeremy on the design team in the MBC drama In Your Brilliant Season, showcasing a distinctive performance that left a mark.
He especially grabbed attention with a gay character on the YouTube channel UNEXPECTED FILM. Naturally pulling off a setup where the character pretends to be gay, his short-form videos racked up millions of views and significantly boosted the channel’s growth. The character left such a strong impression that it even sparked real-life misunderstandings, but Jang emphasized his sincerity, saying, "I acted with the belief that love is freedom."
