Japanese trio back number will hold their first-ever concerts in Korea on September 12–13 at KINTEX Hall 9 in Goyang, Gyeonggi — a highly anticipated stop on their Asia run that comes amid buzz from Sung Si-kyung’s viral TV performance. Tickets open on the 22nd at 7 p.m. via YES24 Ticket.

According to concert promoter MPMG on the 14th, back number’s Korea dates are part of their Asia tour, the 'Grateful Yesterdays Tour 2026.' The band will hit cities including Taipei and Hong Kong before meeting fans in Korea.

Formed in 2004, back number is a three-piece band consisting of vocalist-guitarist Iyori Shimizu, bassist Kazuya Kojima, and drummer Hisashi Kurihara. Since their major debut in 2011, they have steadily risen with relatable lyrics about love, heartbreak, and youth, paired with instantly memorable melodies.

Their signature hits include '水平線' ('Suiheisen'/'Horizon'), 'Happy End,' 'Christmas Song,' 'Bouquet,' and 'Heroine.' With their delicate storytelling and universal appeal, they’re often praised as masters of the modern love song.

Their live draw is massive. In 2023, back number sold out a five-dome tour across Japan, pulling in about 380,000 fans. Their recent stadium tour has pushed that even further to around 500,000 attendees, accelerating their global expansion.

This Korea stop is especially meaningful as it marks the first time back number will connect with Korean fans in person. In November last year, singer Sung Si-kyung appeared on Fuji TV’s variety show Chidori no Oni Renchan(千鳥の鬼レンチャン) and flawlessly covered back number’s smash hit 'Heroine,' sparking a surge of interest in the band domestically.

Tickets for back number’s Korea shows go on sale at 7 p.m. on the 22nd via YES24 Ticket.
