After a round of noise over actor Cha Eun-woo’s tax controversy, the drama is finally stepping into the spotlight.

On the 17th, Netflix confirmed the premiere date for its new series The WONDERfools and dropped the official poster and trailer.

Set in 1999, The WONDERfools is a zippy superpower action-comedy where a group of lovable neighborhood misfits accidentally gain abilities and take on a sinister force threatening the world. The drama stars Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, and Im Sung-jae, who team up to bring wildly distinctive characters to life.

The newly released poster spotlights ‘TEAM WONDERfools’ huddled together amid a burst of floating objects, instantly grabbing attention. The trailer goes further, vividly charting the chaotic awakening of superpowers among Haeseong City’s “official fools,” commanding viewers’ curiosity.

Park Eun-bin, in particular, radiates her signature bold and quirky charm, delivering the line “I think we’re all busted as a set” before breaking into an unabashed freestyle dance. We also glimpse Cha Eun-woo pulling a floating book toward him, Choi Dae-hoon struggling because a smartphone won’t come off his hand, and Im Sung-jae ripping a car door like it’s paper — teasing how each will adapt to and wield their newfound powers. Their unpredictable chemistry as they fumble, panic, and ultimately accept their abilities promises to be a major hook.

Reactions are split online: comments range from “It feels lighter and more comedic than expected” to “My excitement dropped a bit” and “It’ll be all or nothing.”

After plenty of twists and turns, The WONDERfools will premiere worldwide on Netflix on May 15.
