Wanna One member-turned-actor Ong Seong-wu is taking on a bold new role in the drama Spellbound. The occult romance follows chaebol heiress Cheon Yeori (played by Park Eun-bin), who can see ghosts, and prosecutor Ma Gangwook (played by Yang Se-jong), who’s terrified of them. It’s based on the 2011 film of the same name.

In this series, Ong plays an original character not seen in the film: Kang Min-hwan, the CEO of CL’s affiliate, CL Raymond Hotel. He’s portrayed as razor-sharp, irresistibly attractive, and a smooth talker.

The production team shared, "Kang Min-hwan injects a fresh tension between Cheon Yeori and Ma Gangwook. We’re excited to see how Ong Seong-wu will make this character’s story entirely his own."

Ong Seong-wu debuted with the group Wanna One, formed through Mnet’s audition program Produce 101 Season 2, and quickly won massive popularity. He has since built his career with various drama roles and activities as an actor.

Spellbound, starring Ong Seong-wu, is slated to premiere in the second half of the year.
