Seventeen-year-old actor Moon Woo-jin is blowing viewers away with a flawless turn as Lee Hee-joon’s younger counterpart.

In ENA’s Monday–Tuesday drama Scarecrow, which premiered on the 20th, Moon Woo-jin delivered a powerful performance as the young version of cold-blooded prosecutor Cha Si-young (played by Lee Hee-joon).

Scarecrow is a crime-thriller about a detective chasing the real culprit behind a string of serial murders who ends up forming an unlikely alliance with someone he despises. Cha Si-young is a razor-sharp operator with keen judgment and political instincts; from childhood, he’s been bound by a vicious feud with Kang Tae-joo (Park Hae-soo) and has made surpassing him his life’s mission—an intricately layered character.

Episode 1 especially gripped viewers with a razor-edged showdown as the two—once a school bullying victim and perpetrator—reunite years later as a detective and a prosecutor.

Right after broadcast, online communities and social media exploded with praise: “His child-actor performance is chilling,” “Please go easier on the acting,” and “He’s the hope of the child-actor scene.”

Scarecrow has already lit up the ratings, quickly surpassing the peak numbers of its predecessor, Climax. According to Nielsen Korea, Episode 2 scored 4.1% among nationwide paid households, proving a steep, viral rise.

Meanwhile, Scarecrow airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m.
