K-ballad star Sung Si-kyung and Japanese actor-model Ayaka Miyoshi stunned fans with a couple pictorial, flaunting next-level chemistry built while filming the Netflix variety show Michin Matjip.
On the 22nd, fashion magazine Allure Korea dropped the photos and interview. Miyoshi said, "I've modeled for 23 years, but I haven't done many couple shoots. I thought it might feel awkward, but it was so much fun." Sung added, "I don't shoot pictorials that often. It's been ages since I did a couple shoot, and I really enjoyed it," praising her: "I mostly stood still—Miyoshi handled everything. A true pro."
They also revealed their first impressions. Sung shared, "I expected a colder vibe, but she smiles a lot, eats well, and is very warm. Above all, I'm grateful she genuinely loves Korea." Miyoshi confessed, "I was surprised at how good Sung's Japanese is," adding, "During our first shoot, I worried whether my picks would match his taste."
Talking about the new season of Michin Matjip, they teased a different energy. Sung said, "This time, it's less about cultural depth and more about a delicious, fun, and exciting mood. The audience also feels younger." Miyoshi added, "I love eating so much that I go into every shoot with butterflies."
Miyoshi's love for Korean food stood out. "Whenever I'm in Seoul, I always get sundae-guk (sundae blood sausage soup). I also love dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken stew), Pyongyang naengmyeon (buckwheat cold noodles), and ganjang gejang (soy-marinated raw crab). Especially sundae (Korean blood sausage) is my favorite," she said. Sung hyped fans up, saying, "Our Seoul filming list this time even includes a top sundae-guk spot."
They also shared their food philosophy. Sung reflected, "There was a time when loving food was seen as mere gluttony. But now, 'food' is a key culture that shapes quality of life. Talking about dishes and discovering great flavors brings real happiness." Miyoshi agreed: "Delicious food makes the body and mind healthy. It gives you pure joy."
To wrap up, they recommended 'cheer-up' dishes for each other. Miyoshi picked tonjiru (Japanese pork and miso soup) loaded with ginger for Sung, while he replied, "To boost your energy, I'd go with oritang (Korean garlic-heavy duck soup) with a mountain of garlic."
Meanwhile, the two continue their on-screen teamwork on Netflix's Michin Matjip.
