Actor Yoo Ji-tae opened up with unfiltered honesty, from the box-office behind-the-scenes of The King's Warden to intimate stories about his family.
On the 23rd, a video featuring Yoo Ji-tae as a guest was uploaded to comedians Kim Jun-ho and Kim Ji-min’s YouTube channel. Dressed in historical-drama concept outfits, Kim Jun-ho and Kim Ji-min welcomed Yoo with playful energy. Yoo Ji-tae and Kim Jun-ho are known to be alumni of Dankook University’s Department of Theater and Film.
Having recently joined the ranks of a 'ten-million actor' with The King's Warden, Yoo surprised viewers with his answer about profit sharing. "It wasn’t a backend participation deal. There were no additional incentives," he said calmly. When others expressed regret, he drew attention by adding, "I went through tough times when I was young, so the life I have now is more than enough."
Questions also turned to income comparisons with his wife, actress Kim Hyo-jin. Yoo said, "Right now, I’m the one working more," adding, "My wife is busy taking care of the kids these days." The couple married in 2011 and have two sons.
Yoo also addressed the possibility of a third child. "We’ve talked about trying for a daughter," he admitted, while noting, "Life with kids is completely different. Your sense of responsibility and duty grows so much." He went on to share a personal belief: "Even if a man is older, if he doesn’t have children, to me he still looks like a kid."
On the moment he truly felt the 'ten-million actor' title, he said, "It was when the 'ten-million actor' badge appeared on the portal site," adding, "I was truly grateful. It meant even more because the production team listed me as a lead, not a supporting role."
Since his 1998 debut, Yoo Ji-tae has maintained a prolific career, appearing in films such as Attack the Gas Station!, Ditto, One Fine Spring Day, Oldboy, Midnight FM, The Swindlers, Money, and The King's Warden.
