Director Lee Myung-se’s documentary ‘Ran 12.3’ is drawing strong attention ahead of its release, topping advance ticket sales despite competition from major titles.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on the 20th, ‘Ran 12.3’ ranked first as of 9:53 a.m., recording a 17.2% pre-sale share with 36,245 tickets reserved. It surpassed current box office leader ‘Salmokji: Whispering Water’ as well as upcoming releases ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ and ‘Crayon Shin-chan.’
‘Ran 12.3’ is a documentary that captures the events surrounding former president Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law on December 3, 2024, along with the responses of citizens during that time.
Responses from advance screenings highlighted the film’s direction and level of immersion, with viewers noting its distinct style and presentation.
On the 27th, a special GV (guest visit Q&A) featuring actor Park Joong-hoon and director Lee Myung-se is scheduled. Tickets for the event sold out shortly after opening.
With strong pre-release performance, attention is on how ‘Ran 12.3’ will perform at the box office following its official release on the 22nd.
