An episode from Coupang Play’s SNL Korea Season 8 is drawing a fiery response from viewers.
Episode 5, released on the 25th, featured host Shin Sung-rok delivering a boundary-pushing comedic performance. Showcasing two decades of stage experience, he amped up every sketch and kept the laughs coming.
In particular, the 'Smile Clinic' sketch went viral across social media and online communities after broadcast. Shin Sung-rok transformed into a board-certified dermatologist and squared off with clinic head Kim Won-hoon, with manager Lee Su-ji caught in the middle — and one scene especially struck a nerve with viewers.
In the sketch, a patient said, "I came because of atopic dermatitis," asking for treatment. But Lee Su-ji replied, "You can’t do that here — you need to go to a board-certified dermatology clinic." Although Smile Clinic was labeled a dermatology clinic, Kim Won-hoon’s character wasn’t board-certified — and that’s when Shin Sung-rok’s certified specialist burst in for a big laugh.
Viewers reacted, saying, "This gave me PTSD," "Is this even a real clinic?", "In reality, you can barely see a board-certified dermatologist," and "These days, dermatology has turned into cosmetic-only."
