Actor Dong-gun Lee is joining JTBC’s reality show Divorce Deliberation Camp as the new MC, taking over from Tae-hyun Jin.
On the 29th, the Divorce Deliberation Camp team told multiple outlets, "Dong-gun Lee will join as an MC," adding, "His episodes are slated to air starting in July."
Divorce Deliberation Camp is a counseling-style variety show that follows couples at a crossroads. It has continued since its official launch in August 2024. From the pilot days, Tae-hyun Jin anchored the show as the investigator representing husbands, but with producers seeking a refresh, he has naturally stepped down.
Tae-hyun Jin addressed his exit on Instagram. "By the producers’ decision, I left the program after my final recording in early April," he shared, adding, "I always wondered whether my advice truly helped, given my limited personal experience." He still expressed deep affection for the show, calling it "the most sincere recording of my 25-year career as an entertainer."
Lee’s arrival signals another tonal shift. Having gone through a divorce himself, he’s expected to bring a grounded, real-world perspective to marital conflict. Dong-gun Lee married actress Yoon-hee Jo in 2017 and the couple had a daughter before announcing their divorce in 2020.
The producers say the revamp aims to break the existing mold and introduce more diverse viewpoints. Still, how they’ll fill the void left by longtime mainstay Tae-hyun Jin—and whether Dong-gun Lee can forge his own bond with viewers—will be key to watch.
Public reaction to Lee’s casting is already split. Online comments include praise like "He seems like a good fit" and "He’s been through pain, so he’ll empathize well," alongside backlash such as "This is the big change the producers promised?" "They let Tae-hyun Jin go and bring in Dong-gun Lee?" and "What exactly are the producers aiming for?"
