tripleS member Kim Yoo-yeon directly shut down the smoking rumors that have followed her, opening up about how frustrating it has been.
Recently on the YouTube channel Ipmanyeolmeon, tripleS members Kim Na-kyoung and Kim Yoo-yeon chatted with comedian Lee Yong-jin. In the video, Kim Yoo-yeon said, "There’s something I really want to clear up," bringing up the smoking speculation around her. "When you search my name online, an old clip makes people think I smoke," she explained, stressing, "In reality, I’ve never tried either e-cigarettes or regular cigarettes—not even once."
She added, "I’m not trying to criticize smoking itself, but it’s truly not me, so it feels incredibly unfair," expressing her frustration. She also shared that the persistent related search terms and comments have even upset her parents, adding to the heartbreak.
The rumor traces back to her past appearance on No-ppakku Tak Jae-hoon. After Tak Jae-hoon tossed a playful question, Kim Yoo-yeon reacted flustered, and that brief moment was blown out of proportion online—snowballing into speculation like "Does she actually smoke?" Some netizens then treated it as fact, cementing the misunderstanding.
Born in 2001, Kim Yoo-yeon is currently studying Science Education at Ewha Womans University’s College of Education. She first gained public attention through MBC’s 2021 audition program My Teenage Girls and debuted with tripleS in 2022.
