Actor Gong Myung revealed he received a lavish birthday gift from his younger brother, NCT member Doyoung.
On June 6, the web variety show Pinggyego featured the leads of the Netflix film Husbands in Action—Jin Sun-kyu, Gong Myung, Lee Da-hee, and Yoon Kyung-ho—chatting with Yoo Jae-suk.
During the video, while talking about the family screening of Husbands in Action, Gong Myung mentioned his brother Doyoung. Explaining that Doyoung, who is currently serving in the military, couldn’t attend, he teased, “My birthday was in May, and my brother gave me a big gift,” sparking curiosity.
He then revealed, “He bought me a car.” The cast, including Yoo Jae-suk, couldn’t hide their shock, asking, “Your brother in the military bought you a car?”
Gong Myung added that when Doyoung gifted the car, he said, “Hyung, you should talk about it somewhere, right?” Gong Myung jumped up from his seat and gave a 90-degree bow, saying, “To the chairman of our family—thank you so much. I’ll cherish it and drive it for a long time,” sending the set into laughter.
Yoo Jae-suk praised Doyoung’s thoughtfulness, saying, “Your brother is really cool. It’s not easy to buy a car for your hyung while you’re serving.”
Gong Myung also expressed his affection for his younger brother. “Sometimes, when I see things like this, he feels like the older brother—so reliable,” he said. He joked, “These days, when I wake up, I face toward Gangwon Province, where my brother is, and say, ‘Sir, I hope you have a great day.’”
Gong Myung and Doyoung are well-known as one of the industry’s representative celebrity brothers. Gong Myung is active as an actor, while Doyoung, a member of NCT, is currently serving as an active-duty soldier in the Army.
Meanwhile, Husbands in Action, starring Gong Myung, will be released on the 19th.
