Actress Kim Gyu-ri has shared an update following a shocking home-invasion robbery and expressed heartfelt thanks to the police officers and investigators who helped her.
On June 7, Kim wrote on Instagram, “I stepped out for a moment and came across a beautiful path of flowers,” adding, “I momentarily forgot that even a flower path can turn out to be a bed of gravel. Still, I’ll quietly keep walking my own path.” Addressing last month’s robbery, she continued, “I sincerely thank the local substation, the police station, the detectives, the forensics team, and the control center staff who rushed to the scene faster than anyone right after my report.” Kim added, “Right now, I’m staying under my family’s protection with heightened security. I’ll take good care of my health.”
Kim was victimized on May 20 at her home in Jongno-gu, Seoul. According to police, a man in his 40s, identified as A, broke into her residence and demanded valuables, and he allegedly assaulted an acquaintance who was with her at the time. During the incident, Kim and her acquaintance reportedly fled the home barefoot and sought help from passersby and nearby drivers. Both sustained injuries, including fractures and bruises.
The suspect fled immediately after the crime but turned himself in about three hours later in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, while under police pursuit. A court issued a warrant for his arrest, citing flight risk, and he has since been detained and referred to prosecutors on charges of robbery causing injury.
During the investigation, it was also revealed that A had been on trial for allegedly posing as a city gas meter inspector to enter the home of TV personality and lawyer Seo Dong-ju. Seo previously said the suspect had claimed to be a fan and tried to contact her multiple times.
