A shocking home invasion at actress Kim Gyu-ri's residence in Jongno-gu, Seoul has prompted a police investigation. The intruder, a man in his 40s, fled the scene but surrendered to authorities about three hours later.
According to Channel A on the 21st, around 9 p.m. on the 20th, a man in his 40s, identified as A, allegedly entered Kim Gyu-ri's home in Bukchon Hanok Village, Jongno-gu, intending to steal valuables. At the time, a woman who lives with Kim Gyu-ri was inside the house and reportedly realized there had been an intrusion, exposing the crime in progress.
Once discovered, A immediately ran from the scene. During the incident, the woman living with Kim Gyu-ri was injured. A 112 call reportedly stated, "The robber tried to tie me up." Police launched a pursuit right after the report, and about three hours later A turned himself in to police in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu. He is currently under arrest on suspicion of robbery causing injury.
The Jongno Police Station is focusing on whether the suspect prepared the crime in advance, investigating the possibility of premeditation. Authorities also plan to review a detention warrant application after confirming the precise method of entry, motive, and the extent of the damage.
Back in November last year, Nana — an actress and former member of the group After School — was also the victim of a home invasion. A man in his 30s allegedly entered her home via the balcony and threatened Nana and her mother with a weapon before being arrested on suspicion of robbery causing injury. That case is currently in its second trial.
