Nana, the former After School member turned actress, sparked buzz by subtly referencing the home robbery attempt she survived, while delivering her acceptance speech at a major awards show.

On the 20th, at the Busan Cinema Center Roof Theater, Nana won Best Supporting Actress at the '2026 Korea International Streaming Festival Global OTT Awards' for the drama CLIMAX.

Taking the stage, Nana said, "Thank you for giving me such a big award in such beautiful weather and in such a wonderful venue," adding, "I think our director will be the happiest about this. I received this thanks to the director." She continued, "I will keep acting, and with good performances and an honest, sincere self, I will become an actor who can have a positive impact on those watching."

One final line especially drew attention. Nana added, "Please stay healthy, watch out for thieves, and be happy." The remark reminded many of the robbery incident she went through last year.

In November last year, Nana and her mother were victims of an attempted robbery at their home in Guri, Gyeonggi Province. According to prosecutors, a man in his 30s entered Nana’s residence armed with a weapon, threatened Nana and her mother, and demanded valuables before failing in his attempt. He was also charged with choking a victim during the threat.

At sentencing arguments, prosecutors sought a 10-year prison term. The court of first instance found all counts in the indictment proven and sentenced the man to seven years in prison, noting the late-night intrusion into a residence while armed and the gravity of the crime.

However, regarding the offense against Nana, the court categorized it as robbery resulting in bodily injury (rather than robbery causing bodily injury). The decision cited factors such as the assailant briefly putting down his weapon after being persuaded by Nana’s mother, and Nana later picking it up after arriving at the scene. The statutory penalty is the same, so the title of the offense was adjusted without amending the indictment.

Prosecutors appealed this determination, reportedly arguing factual error, misapplication of law, and an unduly lenient sentence with respect to the classification as robbery resulting in injury rather than robbery causing injury. The defendant has also appealed the first-instance ruling.

Right after the initial verdict, Nana wrote on her social media, "The same lies repeated. No remorse. No forgiveness."
