From swoony romance to high-octane action, K-dramas continue to flood global viewers with must-see content. On the OTT film charts, a mix of romantic comedies, mysteries, and documentaries is also grabbing attention worldwide.
While it’s disappointing that no Korean film cracked the top spots for a second week, the newly released Netflix original series Get Schooled is catching fire at home, proving the overwhelming power of K-content.
According to FlixPatrol’s June 9 tally, the global film Top 3 spans romantic comedy, mystery-thriller, and documentary — a diverse lineup commanding viewers’ attention around the world.
Released on the 5th, Office Romance soared to No. 1. Dubbed the queen of rom-coms, Jennifer Lopez returns as an airline CEO who even pilots planes herself, flaunting a fresh kind of charisma. The film follows two workaholics entangled in a secret office relationship as their uncontrollable feelings spark unexpected chaos.
At No. 2 is the Spanish mystery thriller Jane Doe, which opens with a gut-punch premise: a woman is discovered inside a sealed shipping container. She doesn’t remember who she is, and her body is covered with horrific, inexplicable wounds. Two detectives race to uncover her identity, only to realize the case is tied to a far bigger conspiracy than a simple missing-persons file — delivering suffocating tension.
The documentary eyewitness, released on the 4th, ranks No. 3. It tells the story of the only witness to Rachel Nickell’s brutal murder — her two-year-old son. As a flawed police investigation stalls, the surviving partner fights alone on the brink to protect the child. Based on a shocking and tragic true story, the film commands heavy attention from viewers.
On the TV chart, K-dramas are on a tear. Two Korean series backed by tight storytelling and standout performances muscled into the rankings.
Claiming No. 3 is the Netflix original Get Schooled, praised for its wildly satisfying payoffs. Dropped in full on the 5th, the series follows the righteous crusade of the 'Teacher Rights Protection Bureau,' which stands with victims and fixes broken schools.
In just one day, it shot to No. 1 on Netflix’s 'Top 10 TV Shows in Korea Today,' proving explosive buzz. As Na Hwa-jin, Kim Mu-yeol metes out real-world school justice with fearless action, delivering spine-tingling catharsis. While his powerhouse action anchors the plot, his teamwork with Jin Ki-joo and Pyo Ji-hoon (P.O), plus a colorful stream of characters in each episode, keeps the drama packed with thrills.
At No. 5 is SBS’s Friday–Saturday drama My Royal Nemesis, led by Heo Nam-joon and Lim Ji-yeon. A textbook word-of-mouth hit, it debuted with a 4.1% rating and, per Nielsen Korea, rocketed to 9.9% by episode 10 — more than doubling its score.
Beyond their acting, the duo’s chemistry and even their everyday dynamic are drawing intense interest. Capping episode 10, a shocking twist flipped viewers’ expectations and sent anticipation for the next episode soaring.
