Jessica, formerly of Girls' Generation, personally addressed the airport "gagging" controversy.
During a live broadcast on the 13th, speaking about a video filmed at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport in China, Jessica said, "I think many people are misunderstanding. It wasn't because there was a smell."
She explained the situation at the time: "The day before, it was a fan's birthday. When I asked their age, they said 21. That's so young, and I thought, 'How did such a young fan know about me and come here?'" She added, "I failed to control my expression. I overreacted," expressing regret.
Earlier, while leaving a Chinese airport surrounded by fans, Jessica suddenly stopped, covered her mouth with her hand, and frowned—appearing as if she were gagging. After the clip spread online, some netizens speculated she had caught a bad odor from fans.
Fans who saw the video reacted, saying, "She still tried to hold it in" and "There was nothing she could do."
Debuting with Girls' Generation in 2007, Jessica left the group in 2014 and has since focused on various activities overseas.
