A Japanese woman in her 50s who kissed BTS member Jin during a free hug event has filed an objection as she heads to trial on an indecent assault charge.

Identified as A, the woman was indicted without detention on suspicion of indecent assault. Through her legal representative, she recently submitted to the Seoul Eastern District Court a notice objecting to the scheduling of her hearings and reserving her rights. The filing signals her stance on trial procedures and timing and indicates she intends to actively exercise her right to defense.

Two hearings are scheduled for July. All eyes are on whether her objection will affect how the proceedings unfold.

Last year, A allegedly kissed Jin on the cheek during his military discharge commemorative free hug event at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul. Jin reportedly turned away immediately.

Controversy flared after A discussed the incident on her social media. The investigation began following reports from fans at the scene. Although A had been living overseas, she voluntarily entered Korea for questioning. Prosecutors said A denied the charge as mere physical contact, but after reviewing the non-consensual nature of the contact and her subsequent actions and statements, they decided to indict.
