Shocking halt: JTBC’s new drama Rediscovery of Love, starring Kim So-yeon and Kim Ji-seok, has reportedly paused production for one month.

According to a June 22 report by Korea Economic Daily, the cast and crew of Rediscovery of Love were notified by producers that filming would be suspended “for about a month to revise the scripts and other materials.” The pause comes barely ten days after the official casting announcement on the 10th and the start of principal photography.

Addressing the sudden shutdown, the Rediscovery of Love team explained they “did not have enough completed scripts yet and decided to take time to regroup, also considering the upcoming rainy season.” However, the drama is a co-production between SLL—an affiliate of ContentreeJoongAng that recently entered court receivership—Studio HIM, and AlcheMista Media.

Making matters worse, broadcaster JTBC declared a final default on June 12 after failing to repay a securitized loan totaling 20.6 billion KRW.

As the news spread, netizens reacted with skepticism and concern: “It’s not even monsoon season yet—why blame the rain?”, “Isn’t this really about production funds drying up after the default?”, and “At this rate, the entire drama could be scrapped.”

Originally slated for the second half of this year, Rediscovery of Love is a slice-of-life office human melodrama about a divorced couple who end up sharing a home—and even working at the same company—only to see each other in a new light. All eyes are on whether Rediscovery of Love can resume filming safely in a month as announced.
