Shocking yet heartfelt—former racing model–turned–TV personality Ji Yeon-soo opened up about her ex-husband, former U-KISS member Eli, tying the knot again.
On the 22nd, Ji Yeon-soo launched her YouTube channel, uploading the first video. She first addressed why her channel’s debut happened to coincide with news of Eli’s remarriage, clarifying, “Today is the first shoot, but I’ve been preparing since last November,” denying any intention to time it with his news.
Responding to Eli’s remarriage, she calmly said, “I’m really happy for him. Congratulations.” Still, she admitted, “I knew he was getting married, but I didn’t know when. My very first thought was, ‘Our child has school tomorrow.’”
She continued, “Some parents at school know who his dad is. I worried most that our child might hear things from others and get hurt.” She emphasized that she thought first about the attention and situations her son might face rather than her own feelings.
Ji Yeon-soo added that she couldn’t immediately check the articles in detail when the news broke. “I only read them properly after taking care of our child and putting him to bed. I was pretty calm, but people around me seemed more on edge, not sure whether they should bring it up or not,” she shared.
She also made it clear she supports Eli’s new start. “He’s still in his 30s. It’s the age to remarry, have kids, and live his life. I already found happiness first, just the two of us—my child and me. I think he’s simply finding his happiness a little later than I did.”
According to her, their son also knows about his father’s remarriage. “He knows. We congratulated him,” she said. “Not congratulating won’t change anything. Since the decision’s been made, I just want everything to go well and for him to be happy.”
Toward the end, Ji Yeon-soo spoke candidly about her own chances of remarrying. “It’s not that I’ll never remarry—someday, maybe,” she said. “But Eli was the last man I dated, married, and divorced. Since then, I haven’t even exchanged numbers with anyone.” She confessed, “After the divorce, I focused only on being a mom. I didn’t have the time or bandwidth to meet someone new or date.” Asked about her ideal type, she laughed and replied, “A man who completed military service, is a high school graduate, and doesn’t drink.”
Ji Yeon-soo and Eli married in 2014 and had a son before divorcing in 2020. The two later drew attention by appearing together on TV Chosun’s variety show We Got Divorced 2. Eli personally announced his remarriage on the 11th.
