Going viral: Actress Lee Da-hae, now 18 weeks pregnant, revealed on-air how her husband SE7EN reacted to their baby news — he froze, then burst into tears of joy.
On the July 19 broadcast of SBS variety show My Little Old Boy, Lee Da-hae appeared as a special MC.
During the show, Lee shared, "I'm currently about 18 weeks along." When asked if they had picked a name, she said, "My husband absolutely loves babies. Whenever he saw a cute baby, he'd call her 'Ellie.'" She added, "We're actually having a daughter, so we're deciding whether to go with Ellie or Ella."
She also showed SE7EN's doting-dad side. "When my husband watches videos of little girls saying they want to marry their dad, he grins from ear to ear," Lee laughed.
Lee detailed the moment she told him she was pregnant. "I planned a small surprise. I put a pregnancy test into a plush toy and asked him to say grace before our meal," she explained. "After the prayer, he noticed something, stared blankly, then was so shocked he cried — he was truly happy. A staff member came over to serve, and he immediately told them his wife was pregnant," she added, laughing.
She also shared how they broke the news to their families. "I called my mom first — my hands were shaking — even before telling my husband," Lee said.
For her in-laws, they gifted a framed ultrasound photo. "I saw smiles, expressions, even laughter I hadn't seen in 11 years. They were over the moon, and I felt so proud," she recalled. "My mother-in-law even sent flowers."
Lee was candid about her pregnancy dream, too. "I hoped for a pretty dream like peaches, but I saw two baskets with baby thread snakes and a kitten wriggling together," she said. "In the dream they looked cute, not creepy, but after waking up I felt a bit uneasy," she admitted with a laugh. Seo Jang-hoon advised, "Think of them as a dragon and a tiger — it's a good sign," and Shin Dong-yup added, "Interpret pregnancy dreams as 'dragon versus tiger' — very auspicious."
Lee Da-hae and SE7EN dated for about eight years before marrying in May 2023. Now, roughly three years into marriage, they're expecting their first child and receiving an outpouring of congratulations.
