Former civil servant–turned-creator Kim Seon-tae is teaming up with KBS to take on his first-ever solo MC role.
KBS will unveil the new web variety show Don Seon-tae Success Era on the 29th, hosted by Kim. The program follows Kim, who moved up to Seoul chasing bigger dreams, as he invites figures who have made it in their respective fields to his tiny rented room for candid conversations.
Kim asks guests, "How did you make it this far?" and digs into their paths to success and the decisive moments along the way. Instead of highlighting only the glamorous outcomes, the show also examines failures, doubts, unexpected choices, and life-changing turning points.
Most of all, Kim's trademark quick wit and sharp, disarming questions are the show's main draw. Unlike standard interview programs, his lightly money-minded perspective adds a playful, refreshingly offbeat vibe to the talk.
While serving as a Chungju City civil servant, Kim created the 'Chungju Man' persona. He grew the city's official YouTube channel into a flagship among local governments, and by the time he resigned, it had around 970,000 subscribers.
The buzz continued after he left public office. After launching his personal YouTube channel, Kim surpassed 1 million subscribers just three days in, drawing explosive attention. His channel now stands at roughly 1.69 million subscribers.
Meanwhile, Don Seon-tae Success Era will premiere on KBS's official YouTube channel on the 29th, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday.
