Just ahead of their Mexico City shows, BTS made an official visit to meet Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum — a headline-making moment that proves their explosive popularity in the country.
On the 7th, BTS visited the Presidential Office and met with President Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico City.
President Sheinbaum opened the Presidential Office balcony, where the members greeted cheering citizens gathered below.
According to BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS’s visit is expected to deliver major economic benefits. The Mexico City Chamber of Commerce estimates the concerts will generate an economic ripple effect of about $107.5 million (approximately 156.0 billion KRW).
Earlier data released by the music streaming platform Spotify shows Mexico is the fifth-largest market in the world for K-pop listening. Among K-pop acts, BTS ranks as the most-streamed artist locally.
Meanwhile, BTS will perform for three days on May 7 and 9–10 at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, with all tickets selling out immediately after release.
