Actor Ha Yoon-kyung is reportedly set to reunite with the director and cast behind the recent global Netflix smash Teach You a Lesson for a brand-new project.
According to a June 18 report by ize, Ha Yoon-kyung will appear as surgical resident Ki Eun-gyeol in director Hong Jong-chan’s upcoming Netflix series First Doctor. She has already wrapped the first table read and is expected to begin full-scale filming soon.
First Doctor is a human medical drama about Heo Ji-wan, a duty-driven physician who returns in triumph to Yeonhui University Hospital—a regional hospital he left under a cloud due to an incident during his residency—to serve as the head of pediatrics. Set against the harsh reality of a pediatric surgery department on the brink of closure amid a declining birthrate, the series warmly follows young patients meeting the first doctor of their lives and the stories of their families.
Lead role Heo Ji-wan will be played by acclaimed actor Jung Ryeo-won, while Baek Hyun-jin takes on the sly surgery chief Son Sang-baek, who constantly throws roadblocks in Ji-wan’s way—dialing up both tension and fun.
Anticipation is high as this marks director Hong Jong-chan’s new work following Juvenile Justice and the recent worldwide sensation Teach You a Lesson. Adding to the powerhouse lineup, actor Kim Mu-yeol—who led the global craze in Teach You a Lesson—is reported to be teaming up with Hong for the third time after Juvenile Justice and Teach You a Lesson.
