Actor Park Jung-soo opened up about her nearly 25-year common-law relationship with PD Jung Eul-young and pointed out how actor Jung Kyung-ho is a lookalike of his father.
On the June 21 broadcast of SBS variety show My Little Old Boy, actor Kim Seung-soo, singer Yoon Min-soo, and Kim Jong-min were seen visiting Park Jung-soo’s five-story building in Apgujeong. The space is both Park’s home and studio, and it currently also serves as PD Jung Eul-young’s workspace.
As Park introduced different parts of the building, she didn’t hide her affection for Jung Eul-young. Park said, “We’re using it as my partner’s studio.” She added, “It’s been a while since he last did a drama, but he was a very famous director.” PD Jung Eul-young previously directed Men of the Bath House, Precious Family, and My Husband’s Woman.
Park also carefully explained why Jung hasn’t taken on a new project in a long time. “Because his body of work is on such a high level, he worries the next project might not measure up,” she said. “I understand why he can’t bring himself to work these days.”
While looking around the house, they also revealed photos of PD Jung Eul-young and his son Jung Kyung-ho. Seeing the photos, Park said, “He looks exactly like his dad. As he gets older, they look even more alike. Even their mannerisms are the same,” drawing attention.
The show also touched on Park Jung-soo and PD Jung Eul-young’s long relationship. The two first met in 2001 and have maintained a common-law partnership to this day. Explaining why they didn’t register their marriage, Park said, “Marriage is when families come together. I was 50 at the time. If conflicts with each other’s families led to hurt feelings, I didn’t think I could handle it.” She added, “That’s why I tell people to really think it through before remarrying,” offering practical advice from someone who has shared many years with a partner.
Meanwhile, after her divorce, Park has continued her relationship with PD Jung Eul-young since 2001, and his son Jung Kyung-ho remains active across dramas, films, and variety shows. Recently, Jung Kyung-ho and Girls’ Generation member Sooyoung ended their nearly 14-year relationship.
