Shocking turn: The drama once left in limbo after actor Cho Jin-woong’s past controversy and his surprise retirement announcement has reportedly locked in its broadcast schedule at last.
According to MyDaily on the 30th, tvN’s new drama Second Signal is set to air as a Monday–Tuesday series starting November 30. The eight-episode run will continue through December 22.
Second Signal is the long-awaited follow-up to the acclaimed genre hit Signal, arriving a full 10 years later. It was originally slated to premiere this month to mark tvN’s 20th anniversary, but was indefinitely postponed amid controversy surrounding Cho Jin-woong. The network now appears to have decided it can no longer keep a fully pre-produced project on the shelf.
The broadcast news immediately divided netizens: “Shouldn’t a show starring a controversial actor be scrapped?”, “I won’t be able to immerse myself in the story,” “If you don’t want to watch, then don’t,” and “Skip TV and drop it on OTT only.”
All eyes are on whether Second Signal will win over the public once it finally lifts the veil.
