Channel A dating show Heart Signal 4 alum Kim Ji-young addressed the controversy and a wave of hate comments after appearing on SBS variety Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny.
On the 7th, Kim uploaded a Q&A video to her YouTube channel, answering fans' questions. While responding to various topics, she was asked how she has been dealing with the flood of malicious comments since her appearance on Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny.
Earlier, Kim appeared on the program with her husband, Yoon Soo-young, sharing a glimpse of their newlywed routine. A scene showing the couple heading into the bathroom to shower together, along with the sound of running water, aired — sparking heated debate among viewers over whether the segment crossed the line.
About that scene, Kim admitted, "A lot of people were uncomfortable," adding, "Watching it back, I realized I might have gone too far." She continued, "In my life, that felt completely normal, so I failed to consider others' perspectives. I didn't think people would not want to know that much." She went on, "We're not used to filming, so we thought of it as ordinary daily life — like having breakfast. I had no idea that moment would be highlighted like that," apologizing, "Many people said, 'We didn't need to know that much,' and I agree. It was way too TMI."
Even so, Kim expressed how hurt she felt about the harsh comments targeting her husband. "The malicious comments about my husband really broke my heart," she said. "Please understand that what you saw on the show was him feeling very nervous and stiff in front of the cameras and crew."
In closing, Kim shared, "These days, I think we all need to look at people more broadly. A lot of things get clipped for shock value, and you can't know a person from a one-minute Shorts clip." She added, "It made me think we should all be kinder to one another. I'm going to try to treat others more kindly, too."
Meanwhile, Kim rose to fame on Heart Signal 4, married Yoon in February, and is currently pregnant.
