Red Velvet’s Seulgi is putting her YouTube channel on a brief, two-week hiatus following tragic news in her family.
On June 14, Seulgi’s channel posted an official notice: "Hi Seulgi will be taking a break for two weeks on 6/19 and 6/26. We ask for your kind understanding, and we’ll be back with uploads in July."
The decision appears to follow the passing of Seulgi’s younger cousin, the late YouTuber Sukyzin (real name Kang Su-jin). On the 11th, an obituary written by the bereaved family was uploaded to Sukyzin’s channel. Identifying herself as Sukyzin’s older cousin, the family member wrote, "Sujin passed away on the 7th due to a sudden accident," adding, "We earnestly ask that you send warm condolences and prayers for the deceased on her final journey."
Because Seulgi and Sukyzin had filmed YouTube videos together and shared a close bond, fans are flooding Seulgi with messages of comfort.
Meanwhile, Red Velvet has confirmed a surprise comeback in August, marking their first full-group return in about two years and two months.
