Amid a wave of miscasting controversies surrounding recent webtoon and web-novel based BL dramas, a new contender boasting near-perfect synergy with the source material has stepped into the spotlight.

On the 20th, Wavve’s new BL drama The Prosecutor's Proposal dropped footage from its first script reading ahead of the premiere.

In the released video, the actors dove into their roles so deeply that it was easy to forget it was their very first read-through, showcasing finely tuned line delivery and tension that hint at a well-made investigative series.

Kim Yoon-sik, who plays the cold, clear-headed prosecutor Joo Tae-seon, shared, "The script was genuinely fun, and I felt I could finally show a new side of myself that the public hasn’t seen, so I chose it without hesitation," adding, "Working with great seniors and fellow actors makes me confident we’ll deliver strong results."

Park Si-woo, cast as Lee Chae-ha and who first encountered the source while preparing for auditions, said, "The moment I read the original novel, I had a powerful urge: 'I have to play Lee Chae-ha,'" and added, "After today’s full table read, I’m convinced this drama can really take off."

Based on the web novel of the same name, The Prosecutor's Proposal is an office investigative romance that follows rookie prosecution investigator Lee Chae-ha and charismatic prosecutor Joo Tae-seon as they chase down a string of mysterious cases together.

The two leads teased, "The Prosecutor's Proposal tells a story of characters who overcome their own scars and pain, finding solidarity and growing together," promising, "Along with a variety of compelling cases, a thrilling twist awaits in the finale—so please look forward to it."

Viewers who watched the video reacted enthusiastically: "They look like they walked straight out of the web novel," "I usually don’t like live-action adaptations, but I’m excited for this combo," "Their visuals together are insane," and "Even from the read-through, the acting feels steady."

Set to perfectly satisfy fans of the original, The Prosecutor's Proposal spans 10 episodes and will be released sequentially every Friday at midnight starting on the 26th.
