Shocking turn: Singer-actor Park Yoochun, previously flagged for high-value tax delinquencies, is now reportedly making payments.

On the 6th, MyDaily reported that Park submitted an installment payment plan to the National Tax Service and is currently paying according to schedule. At this pace, he is expected to finish paying the full amount within the year.

In 2023, Park was included on the National Tax Service’s list of 7,966 high-value, habitual tax delinquents, alongside 41 non-compliant donation organizations and 31 tax evaders.

High-value, habitual delinquents are those who fail to pay at least 200 million won in national taxes for over a year from the date the delinquency occurred. The publicly disclosed list targets those who ignored the tax authority’s reminders and requests for explanation, neither paying nor filing an appeal.

At the time, Park appeared on the list for failing to pay five separate tax items, including a 2016 capital gains tax. His total unpaid amount was 409 million won.

Park debuted in 2003 as a member of TVXQ, rising to massive fame. In 2009, he left the group after filing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment and later promoted as JYJ with Kim Jaejoong and Kim Junsu. In 2019, he was arrested and convicted for methamphetamine use, receiving a 10-month prison sentence suspended for two years. He had previously held a high-profile press conference denying the drug allegations and declared, "If the charges are true, I will retire from the entertainment industry," but his claim was ultimately proven false.
