Actress Ryu Hye-young is set to reveal her 11th year of living alone.
The June 19 broadcast of MBC's variety show I Live Alone will spotlight Ryu's single life. Beloved for dramas Reply 1988 and Law School, Ryu will, for the first time on TV, open the doors to a home packed with her personal taste and share a slice of her everyday routine.
Ryu, who says she has lived solo for 11 years, unveils an older apartment she refurbished herself. She preserved the timeworn wood molding, kept the decor understated, and finished the space with charming knickknacks for a warm vibe. Even with minimal styling, the home radiates Ryu's signature sensibility.
In the released photos, Ryu is seen laser-focused on her laptop screen. She grabs attention by saying, "I usually enjoy watching housewife vlogs." Viewers are curious how the life hacks she picked up from homemaking and daily-life content play into her solo-living routine.
Her love for houseplants also shines through. Having carefully raised a plant that's now a year old, Ryu talks to it, saying, "It needs cheering on every day." She then adds with a smile, "You can grow more. We live together, and even if we die, we die together," drawing laughter with her affectionate pep talk.
Alongside her variety appearance, Ryu is keeping busy as an actor. She recently wrapped filming on director Hur Jin-ho's new movie Assassination and has confirmed her casting in the Disney+ series Moving Season 2. As she widens her footprint across film and streaming, anticipation is high for the genuine, down-to-earth charm she'll bring to I Live Alone.
Ryu Hye-young's 11-year solo-life episode airs on I Live Alone at 11:10 p.m. on June 19.
